Are Stephen Miller, Christopher Rufo, and Elon Musk, Leading Advocates for Dismantling DEI, Actually Advocates of Continued White Supremacy?
In her incisive critique of our cultural landscape, the late Bell Hooks asserted, “White supremacy isn’t a white thing. It’s part of this culture. It’s part of how all of us have been taught to think about difference… who’s better, who’s inferior, who’s superior.” This profound observation sheds light on the ongoing ideological battle in America, particularly in the context of DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) initiatives.
Bell Hooks preferred the term “white supremacy” over “racism” because it encapsulates how deeply we are all socialized to think along dualistic lines — light versus dark, superior versus inferior. This societal indoctrination is at the heart of the relentless campaign against DEI led by figures such as Stephen Miller, Christopher Rufo, and, more recently, Elon Musk.
The discourse on “racism” has largely failed to sway a significant majority of White Americans away from their belief in a racial hierarchy, especially one that privileges white males. The crux of our unproductive debates on racism is the failure to address the true malady: the entrenched ideology of white supremacy.
