Resurgence of Extremism: A DEI Practitioner’s Perspective on America’s 21st Century Nazism & Facism
In the annals of history, the specter of Nazism looms ominously, a dark chapter marked by extreme nationalism, racial supremacy, and the abhorrent disregard for human rights. While the world once hoped that such ideologies had been relegated to the dustbins of history, the resurgence of similar sentiments in the 21st century, particularly in America, serves as a chilling reminder of humanity’s susceptibility to hatred and bigotry.
The echoes of Nazism reverberate through the corridors of power, finding resonance among those who champion white nationalism, idolize authoritarianism, and vehemently oppose diversity and inclusion. This contemporary manifestation of extremism has insidiously seeped into the fabric of American society, fueled by divisive rhetoric and social and political polarization.
As a DEI practitioner, I witness firsthand how the toxic blend of xenophobia and racial animus affects marginalized communities. Black and brown people, the LGBTQIA community, immigrants of color, and women find themselves in the crosshairs of bigotry and discrimination, facing a barrage of hate-fueled rhetoric and systemic oppression.
