Pivot Point: Today’s environment, especially for black women at the forefront of diversity, equity, and inclusion, can be challenging and mentally draining. A bit of advice, take some time for some radical self care. You deserve it. In a world that often prioritizes speed, productivity, and individualism, care is a radical act. It is the quiet yet revolutionary force that disrupts systems of oppression, rebuilds trust in fractured communities, and centers humanity in every interaction. As a DEI practitioner and change agent, I have come to understand that care is not passive or secondary — it is the very foundation upon which equity, inclusion, and justice are built.

Care as Disruption

Systems of inequity thrive on neglect — on the assumption that some people are disposable, some voices irrelevant, and some pain insignificant. To care, then, is to disrupt. It means refusing to accept policies, workplaces, or cultures that treat people as mere metrics…
